NRC Camp - Moreton Morrell 2017

From Friday 14 July 2017 -  12:00
To Tuesday 18 July 2017 - 17:00

NRC Moreton Morrell Riding Club Camp 2017

2017 Moreton Morrell camp dates: Friday 14th to Tuesday 18th July.

Join us for our 2017 Moreton Morrell riding club camp…..

Following on from the success of last year we will run our Moreton Morrell camp from 14th to 18th July.  The camp will run over four days, but we will also try and accommodate those wanting to do a two day option over the weekend. It’s a grown up Pony Club camp, offering training, a relaxed social atmosphere and time to enjoy all things equestrian.

For those who haven’t been before, Moreton Morrell College in Warwickshire offers fantastic facilities meaning we can offer a varied programme. Horses will be stabled in permanent ‘American barn’ facilities. Riders can opt for college rooms or utilise their lorry or trailer and ‘camp’ onsite. The college has shower facilities and access to a common room area.

We will offer a variety of training session options. Alongside flatwork or jumping lessons, we will offer sessions on:

Pole work /pole physio – ridden exercises with poles.

Arena cross country jumping – as the ground on the cross country course at Moreton Morrell is not always suitable for training we can utilise the large arenas to train on a surface.

Interval training – session with an instructor to understand how to approach interval training.

Dressage test arena craft – working at a level you have specified to refine test movements.

Riding to music – see how musically aware or challenged you and your horse are by schooling to music.

Lunging or long reining – working on ground work with an instructor.

Lesson on the resident mechanical horse.

Those joining complete a preference form so we can work out a programme that best fits individual wishes.

To plan the mixture of sessions we will adapt the daily programme. Campers will have a lesson both morning and afternoon, but we can’t state the exact format or length of lessons at this stage. You will however receive your programme in advance of camp. The sessions may vary from larger group flatwork / pole lessons to paired shorter sessions on any more specific requests such as lunging, long-reining or riding to music. We want to match requests to individual camp programmes, but please be aware some compromise may be needed to give everyone the majority of their requirements.

Costs include stabling, bedding, hay/haylage, instruction and the college facilities but you will have to bring your horses own hard feed. Accommodation rates are different for trailer / lorry campers and those taking a college room and do not include your meals. Costs are approximately £325 for camping and £425 for college room accommodation, but does depend on numbers so please be aware there may be a deviation from this estimate, Last year we self-catered for breakfast and lunch as you can bring food with you and use the fridges in the common room, or there was a daily run to a local supermarket for top ups. In the evenings we will use local pubs for three nights and have one evening staying at the college and bring in a takeaway, which will give us one evening to have a more relaxed get together.

Dates will be Friday 14th to Tuesday 18th July. We arrive on the Friday, from 3 pm onwards, to settle the horses in. Lessons will then take place from Saturday to Tuesday. Those wanting or only able to come for the weekend should still contact me. We are very happy and can usually include 2-day campers.

So do you now want to book? We want to have 12 campers, but will be able to accommodate up to 18. To secure your place please let me know and pay a £50 deposit. Payment must be made to the NRC account quoting ref MM2017. Account number 70668605, sort code 20-40-71. You need to let me know if you are camping in your lorry / trailer or require a college room.
