Dear Members   27.10.19

hank you to everyone for supporting the Children’s Charity, Friends of O.S.C.A.R. for your help and for taking part. After yesterday heavy rain we had a wonderful sunny day for the ride. The “going” with almost perfect.
What super outfits people wore Devil  . . . certainly scared the Locals!! The photographs are yet to follow.
We were so grateful Nigel allowed us the use all the hard standing around the Farm. We had brilliant results from Gold to Bronze awards for all our 7 mile riders. Some 4 miles exceeded 4 mph to get an extra Sommerhalder point.
Best wishes
Janet Bayley

I was invited by Thames Valley Ambulance  to meet the crew & see the helicopter / Critical Care response vehicle. The crew did a mock response to an incident. A patient spoke of his near death experience & which was quite a moving story.

A BIG Thank you to all NRC members who helped to raise £700 + Jill Webb’s work place for donating £100 at Diana Youngers memorial trail ride in May.

Sunday 8th September of the Pleasure ride from Cholsey Farm, Ibstone.

Here are the photographs taken by Alan on Sunday 8th September of the Pleasure ride from Cholsey Farm, Ibstone. Please can you add them to the NRC Website, and Newsletter.
Everyone enjoyed the ride in brilliant sunshine in a fantastic setting. Riders did chose their own route a long the set a side hence not everyone saw the Photographer, but hopefully Alan captured everyone on their return to Cholsey Farm.
There are a lot of people to thank.
A Big thank you to Mr and Mrs Howard-Jones for allowing us to organise a ride from their farm, Jane Walton for riding the route with me,  Karlyn for walking and trimming the hedgerow with me on Wednesday. I was grateful to Jill walking and marking route on Saturday.
On the day I much appreciated the Helpers, Tiddy, Martin, Mary, Hannah, Jo, Alan and not forgetting Jenny! Your cakes are so ... delicious!!
Please download the pictures from this link below ( They will only be available for limited time )

Equine Influenza Outbreak

In light of the recent confirmed Equine Influenza (flu) outbreaks, we urge owners to be extra vigilant of the clinical signs of the virus and to contact their vet immediately if they have any concerns.

Naphill Riding Club are taking the news of equine flu very seriously. In light of the recent events in the equine world, for safety of our competitors, our members, our supporting venues and our horses, we are following the lead of many equestrian venues. We will be respecting the venues we use and hospitality of our hosts and will be adhering to BEF guidelines on the recommendation of their vets.

Obviously, all venues we use have resident horses so would not be proceeding with any event if they were unduly concerned.

We will absolutely need to be checking passports - we will be asking people to present passports for checking BEFORE opening their lorries/trailers and if not up to date, they will be asked to leave site immediately.

We are looking for 12-month boosters, OR the first two of the three vaccine initial course, and none to have been completed within the 7 days preceding the event.

We will not be enforcing the 6-month booster rule but would be strongly recommending this in line with BEF guidelines as per the link below.

From the BEF website:

"The current outbreak has demonstrated the importance of vaccinations and the BEF continues to urge all owners to ensure that their vaccination records are up to date. If it has been longer than 6 months since the last vaccination, we strongly recommend discussing a booster with their veterinary surgeon.

The BEF has asked all competition and training event organisers to check the equine ID passports of all horses attending their event to make sure that they comply with vaccination rules. A number of venues have put extra precautionary measures in place regarding flu vaccinations. We would also remind participants that they should check venue requirements before setting out.

We are working with our venues and keeping in regular contact with them to implement changes when and if needed. We would like, where duly possible; protect our venues our horses young and old so hope any members, helpers or competitors respect this and any rules which venues may put in place. If unsure please check on venues respective websites.

Thank you for your patience during these challenging times

Regards Martin Liggins - Chairman Naphill Riding Club
